Date or Wedding Venue First?

We get this question a lot - do I choose my date first, and then find a venue with availability? Or opt for the venue I love and pick a date they have open?

The answer: yes, both.

Well, really not both. One or the other - but it could be either. It all depends on your event details (are you finding a trend here?). If you are set on a venue - it’s the most beautiful thing you’ve seen, it matches your aesthetic and vision, it’s within budget, etc. etc. - then you pick your venue first and find a date you like based on their availability.

OR

If you have a date you are set on - your anniversary of meeting, your parents + grandparents same anniversary, your lucky number, etc. - then you find your venue based on who has the date available.

Don’t forget that whether you lean on the date or the venue as the deciding factor - you must not forget that these things are equally as important:

  • Capacity

  • Expense

  • Inclusions

  • Requirements
