Cohesive Collateral
There are so many aspects to your wedding planning that require meticulous attention, and your collateral is certainly one of them. Whether your event is large or small, casual or formal, two months or two years away - certain attention needs to be paid to the communication you give to guests.
Assets:
Guests will need to receive information on your event, that we know. But HOW do they receive information? Is it the save-the-date? The invitation? A wedding website? A digital card with a link to more details? There are SO many options - and frankly, it can be overwhelming. Pieces or assets to consider when mapping out your communication plan:
Save-the-dates (physical or digital) ((or both))
Invitations (see above)
Wedding Website
Weekend Packet (full of information like contact numbers, venue addresses, attire recommendations, parking options, etc.)
Texting Service
RSVP plug in/portal (are you collecting these via paper or digitally? Or both?)
Any combination of these items are necessary - and can help eliminate any questions your guests might have. We love giving the guests ALL the information they don’t know they need, that way they can reference (and reference again) as needed. A wedding website is the easiest way to accomplish this - it allows you the freedom and flexibility to provide every detail to your guests in advance, and depending on the platform, can also provide a location for RSVP, dietary collection, and more. When mapping your communication plan and choosing what assets are right for your event, keep in mind:
Guest demographics (age, distance they are traveling, are children coming, etc.)
Formality of the event (a more casual event most likely doesn’t need as detailed set of assets)
Time of Year (your wedding date may determine additional pieces needed, if your wedding falls in a peak season for the area)
Event details (your venue, your meal service, and other details may require additional needs)
Opportunities:
Your collateral provides an opportunity to set the tone with your guests for the wedding. This is most likely their first interaction (and only interaction) with your event before the big day, and a place they will “visit” often for information - you can use this to your advantage. A formal invitation suite will let guests know to expect a formal event (and to dress accordingly) - a more causal style will follow suit. Want to introduce a pop of color? Your collateral is a great place to do that. Want to use a logo, icon or monogram throughout? It starts here. And, this is an easy way to bring consistency and cohesiveness across the wedding palette. Ways you can incorporate your collateral aesthetic?

We love this save-the-date suite by Wild Joy Studios. This uses the same colors and fonts as the wedding website, includes an icon created by a family member (which is also used across all collateral), and includes a fun (and seamless) wrap-around label with the guest address + return address. Add in the soft gray accent envelope as another small touch.
